Our herbal extracts are handmade in small batches & are packaged & labeled in a professional facility. The herbs we use are naturally grown or wild-crafted herbs to ensure the use of the freshest herbs possible. Herbal extracts are made using a traditional extraction method called maceration, which means soaking the herb (much like steeping a cup of tea) in an extraction liquid know as a menstruum for a number of weeks. The extraction process is specific to each herb to best extract the properties of each unique herb. We use organic grain alcohol, kosher vegetable glycerin derived from palm, distilled water, or organic apple cider vinegar as the extracting liquids to tincture our herbs. Alcohol is the best & a relatively non-toxic substance for extracting & concentrating the constituents in most herbs. Alcohol is not harmful for adults in small amounts. Most extracts contain less than 50% alcohol. Alcohol also helps to preserve the extract & prevent the breakdown & loss of herbal properties, & growth of bacteria.
Herbal extracts are quickly absorbed into the blood stream, often giving faster results than capsules or herbal teas. Extracts give you the benefit of the herbs in a convenient & easy to take form.
Extracts are best taken diluted in a small amount of water, tea or juice. Since most herbal extracts are cleared from the body within 4 hours, it is best to take the extracts 2-4 times per day than 1 large dose. In acute situations, extracts can be taken every hour or so for a short period of time.
Follow the directions on the bottle unless you have information from a good source that tells you otherwise. Dosages are given are within the safe ranges for adults. Dosage recommendations are for 150 lb. adults. Smaller or larger individuals may decrease or increase dose as appropriate. With a few exceptions, total of all extracts taken within a 24 hour period should not exceed more than 1 tablespoon per day when taken on a daily basis.
The amount of extract pulled into the glass tube with one firm squeeze of the bulb at the top is one dropper full. (Never tip the dropper up & let the extract run back into the rubber bulb) If you count the drops they will be between 30-40 drops. 6 droppers will fill a teaspoon.
